Orange conducted nation-wide interviews to find out the possible shift in population density if all parts of the UK are well connected by internet.

Orange asked more than 3,000 people about where they would decide to work or reside if there was stable and fast internet available in all parts of the UK. Based on the answers given in the Connected Britain project that was completed sometime back, Orange made a map of the change in density of population in different regions in the country, provided

broadband internet coverage is as good in rural parts as it is in metropolitan and urban regions.

The findings of the survey showed that many residents of the Midlands and the North would want to move to other places and the number of people living in the South West and Scotland would increase, as more people would prefer living in those regions. Another finding of the survey was that the use of remote workforce that is connected digitally is bound to increase and become even more popular with better broadband and fixed-line internet being available.

Rober Ainger, director of corporate marketing at Orange, pointed out that many interesting changes would take place in the population distribution and in the manner of working if internet access is made universally available in the UK. In fact, the country will go through a revolutionary change, predicted Ainger.
